Do you provide free quotes for concrete work?

Yes. Every quote starts with a site visit. Phone quotes on concrete are almost always wrong because price depends on soil conditions, gradient, access for the truck, drainage and reinforcement, and none of that shows up in a photo. Book a site visit and you’ll get a firm number in writing.

Can you give me a price per square metre over the phone?

Accepted Answer

Not reliably, and quoting one would almost certainly end in a surprise. Per-square-metre pricing swings with site gradient, soil type, reinforcement requirements, access for the concrete truck, thickness, finish (plain, coloured, exposed aggregate) and whether excavation or fill is needed. A 20-minute site visit lets us quote accurately so there are no mid-job variations.

Do you work on both residential and commercial projects?

Yes. Most of our experience is commercial: industrial slabs, commercial car parks, civic builds and larger pours, including the Bairnsdale Police Station. On the residential side we pour house slabs, driveways, shed slabs and paths, and we’re glad to take on new-build homes.

Yes. RBM Concrete & Excavation carries public liability insurance and our team holds the licences and tickets required for the work we do, including plant operation, working at heights where relevant and the trade qualifications expected on commercial sites.

How quickly can you start my concrete project?

Lead times depend on the season. Spring and early summer are our busiest period; winter is often faster to book. We’ll tell you exactly where you sit in the queue when we quote, and we give honest time windows. We’d rather tell you four weeks and start in three than promise next week and miss it.

Do you handle excavation as well as concrete work?

Yes, and that’s one of the reasons customers choose us. When the same team that digs the pad is the team that pours the slab, you don’t get the blame-swap when a level is out or a service is in the wrong place. We own our excavation plant and our concrete gear.

What happens if weather delays my concrete pour?

Accepted Answer

Concrete pours are weather-sensitive: heavy rain, extreme heat or frost can all affect the finished result. If forecast conditions aren’t right, we reschedule rather than pour a slab that will fail early. You’ll always get a heads-up the day before and a new pour date within days, not weeks.

Do you provide warranties on your concrete work?

Yes. All RBM concrete work is covered by a workmanship warranty on top of any supplier warranties that apply to the concrete product itself. We confirm warranty terms in writing with your quote. They cover defects caused by the installation, not damage from ground movement or misuse.

How do I know if my site is suitable for concrete work?

That’s exactly what the site visit is for. We check soil type (reactive clay is common in parts of East Gippsland), fall, drainage, access for a concrete truck, and whether the site needs excavation, fill or a retaining element. If a site isn’t ready, we tell you what needs to happen first, and we can usually do that work ourselves.
