Concrete Driveways · East Gippsland

What you get with RBM

A driveway is a slab that sees the weather. It’s also the first and last thing you see on the block, so finish matters. RBM pours driveways across Bairnsdale and East Gippsland with the base prep, jointing and finishing that stops a driveway failing early.

Most cracked driveways didn’t fail because of the concrete. They failed because the base wasn’t right, the joints weren’t cut, or the slab was too thin for the vehicle using it. We get those fundamentals right first.

Where we’ve done this: Bairnsdale, Paynesville, Lakes Entrance.

How an RBM concrete driveways job runs

Not hypothetical. This is the same process we’ve refined across 5+ years of East Gippsland work.

  1. Step 01

    Measure & finish choice

We measure the run, talk through finish options (plain broom, coloured, exposed aggregate), and discuss drainage and fall.

  2. Step 02

    Dig out & base

Existing surface removed, base prepared and compacted so the slab doesn’t sink.

  3. Step 03

    Formwork & mesh

Formwork to the driveway’s line and level, mesh placed for crack resistance.

  4. Step 04

    Pour & finish

Pour scheduled around the weather, then finished to the chosen style: broom, coloured, exposed aggregate.

  5. Step 05

    Control joints

Control joints cut early so cracking happens where we want it, not across the middle of the drive.

  6. Step 06

    Cure & clean

Curing managed, site cleaned, and we let you know when the driveway is ready for vehicles.

What moves the price on a concrete driveways job

These are the reasons a reliable concreter doesn’t hand out a price per square metre over the phone. Get any of these wrong in the estimate and the job loses money, which is where variations and rushed corners come from.

Length and width

Square metres is the starting point.

Thickness

Trucks, caravans or heavy 4WDs need a thicker slab than a commuter car.

Finish

Plain broom is the most economical; exposed aggregate costs more in labour and materials.

Removal of existing drive

Breaking out and removing an old driveway adds cost and time.

Fall and drainage

Bad fall means puddles and slipperiness. We build proper fall, and sometimes that means a drainage strip.

Crossover and kerbing

Council crossovers have specs; we quote them into the job where relevant.

FAQ

Concrete Driveways FAQ

Straight answers to what customers ask before they book. If you’ve got a question that isn’t here, give the team a call on 0418 952 463.

Broom finish is the workhorse: practical, non-slip, cost-effective. Exposed aggregate looks great and has good grip. Coloured concrete adds character but ages differently to plain.
